Jitter click test

Jitter click inside the box: tense your arm so one finger vibrates on the left mouse button. The timer starts with your first click and shows your clicks per second when time runs out.

How jitter clicking works

Jitter clicking uses a single finger, but instead of lifting it for each click you tense the muscles of the forearm and hand so the finger shakes quickly on the button. Each small movement presses the switch again.

  1. Rest one finger on the left button, with the wrist or forearm supported.
  2. Tense the forearm until the finger starts to vibrate, and keep the pressure light enough for the switch to release between presses.
  3. Start with short durations (1–5 seconds). Jitter clicking is hard to keep up for long, and your speed usually drops as the arm gets tired.

Reading the result

Clicks counts every press of the primary button and CPS divides that by the duration. Best scores for jitter clicking are stored separately from the regular CPS test and the other techniques, one per duration.

Compare a short run with a long one: a big drop shows how quickly the technique tires you. Compare with the same mouse, because switch force and travel change the result.

Jitter clicking and aim

Tensing the arm also shakes the mouse itself, so the pointer moves while you click. That is why jitter clicking is often used in short bursts, and why some players prefer butterfly clicking or drag clicking. This page counts clicks only; it does not measure aim. The word jitter is also used for a shaky pointer caused by the sensor or surface; that is a different problem, covered in mouse tracking and latency.

Comfort and game rules

  • Jitter clicking keeps muscles tense and is tiring. Keep sessions short, rest between attempts and stop if your hand, wrist or arm hurts.
  • Some games and servers limit how many clicks per second they accept or forbid certain techniques and macros. Check their rules; this page does not change what a game accepts.

What this test is not

A jitter clicking score says nothing about whether the mouse works properly. To check the buttons, use the mouse test; for unwanted double clicks, the double click test.

Questions

What is a good jitter clicking CPS?

There is no reliable average to compare with. It depends on your hand, the mouse and the duration, so track your own best score for each duration.

Why does my CPS drop in longer tests?

Jitter clicking relies on tensed muscles, which tire quickly. Short runs show your peak speed; long runs show how long you can keep it.

Can jitter clicking damage my mouse?

It puts many presses on the switch in a short time, like any fast clicking, which adds wear over time. It does not harm the mouse in any other way.
