How the CPS test works

CPS means clicks per second: your total clicks divided by the test duration. Only real presses of the primary button (mouse, touchpad, pen or finger) count; pressing Enter or Space on the box does not. Hiding the tab cancels the run, so the timer always measures continuous clicking.

Short tests (1–5 s) reward a fast burst. Longer tests (30–60 s) measure how long you can keep up the pace.

Clicking techniques

  • Regular clicking: one finger, wrist relaxed. Usually the most consistent.
  • Jitter clicking: tensing the forearm to make the finger vibrate. Fast, but tiring; stop if it hurts.
  • Butterfly clicking: alternating two fingers on the same button.
  • Drag clicking: sliding a finger across the button so friction creates many clicks. It depends heavily on the mouse surface.

Rest between attempts. Fast clicking for long periods strains hands and wrists.

What this test is not

A high or low score says nothing about whether a mouse is healthy. To check that each button registers and releases correctly, use the mouse test. Some games and servers also limit or flag very high click rates, independently of this page.

Questions

Is my best score uploaded or shared?

No. It is stored only in this browser's local storage, separately for each duration. Use Clear best scores to remove it.

Does using a touchpad or phone count?

Yes, taps and touchpad clicks count as presses, so you can compare devices. Results across devices are not directly comparable.
