Mouse tests
Check whether every button and the wheel reach your computer, or measure how fast you can click.
Tests in this section
- Mouse testCheck left, right, middle and side buttons and every scroll-wheel step.
- Double click testFind a mouse that double-clicks on its own: every press timed, suspicious repeats flagged.
- Scroll wheel testCheck if your mouse wheel jumps or scrolls the wrong way.
- CPS testClick speed test: how many clicks per second can you do in 1 to 60 seconds?
Which mouse test do you need?
- Something does not click — the mouse test records each press and release of the left, right, middle and side buttons, and every wheel step.
- You want a score — the CPS test counts clicks per second over 1 to 60 seconds. It is a speed challenge, not a hardware check.
Quick checks before testing
- Wireless mice: charge or change the battery and move the receiver closer, ideally to a front USB port or an extension cable.
- Use a plain surface: glass and glossy desks confuse many optical sensors.
- If side buttons do nothing in one program but work here, the program or the mouse software's button mapping is the cause.
