Audio and video tests

Check that sound comes out where it should and that your microphone and camera reach the browser. Each test runs on your device: sounds are generated locally, and the microphone and camera are used only after you allow them, without uploading anything.

Which test do you need?

  • Speakers — the speaker test plays sound on the left, right or both channels, checks phase, sweeps the bass and tests surround channels when available.
  • Headphones, earbuds or a headset — the headphone test adds a balance slider to find a quieter side.
  • Microphone — the mic test shows a live input level and lets you record and play back a short clip on your device.
  • Webcam or camera — the webcam test shows a live preview with the resolution and frame rate the browser receives.

No sound on your computer?

  1. Check that the volume is up and not muted, both in the system and in the app or browser tab you are using.
  2. Open your system sound settings and make sure the right output device is selected. Plugging in headphones, a monitor with speakers or a Bluetooth device can switch the output without telling you.
  3. Play a test sound on this page. If you hear it, the device works and the problem is in a specific app's settings. If you do not, try another output, such as headphones instead of speakers.
  4. If no output works at all, restart the device, then look at the audio driver or the manufacturer's support pages for your model.

Privacy

The speaker and headphone tests only generate sound and need no permission. Tests that use the microphone or camera ask for permission first; the audio and video stay in your browser and are not uploaded or stored by TestDock.
